Take the former frontman of the Rebirth Brass Band, a Grammy award winning guitarist and some of the finest musicians in the Crescent City and you have Shamarr Allen and the Underdawgs.

The sound is intense, funky, full of rock and soul and never sways too far from the traditional styles of the funky sound started in New Orleans.  This extraordinarily talented group of musicians have decided to collaborate and put together a sound and live show that is a must see for every fan of funk music.

"We're mixing a lot of styles," says Allen. "There are elements of hip-hop, overtones of reggae and Latin - but the predominant sound is funky rock.  We have lots of improv and everybody is an exceptionally good soloist."

They're not afraid of onstage experimentation, either.  The horns might use electronic effects, Allen might rap a few verses and, according to the frontman, "you're never going to see the same show twice." 

The bottom line?  "If you like aggresive rock, you'll love this group.  But if you love the meters - you will still love this group!"
